Flatiron
This loft is home to a couple that loves to travel and entertain. To showcase the couple’s extensive collection of art and sculptures from around the world, we designed a system of walnut shelving on a translucent resin wall at the Entry Foyer of the apartment. The resin wall allows diffused light and shadows to pass into the previously unremarkable elevator lobby area. The living area blends such warm elements as walnut cabinetry with contemporary materials and details, matching comfort with style. A dropped walnut ceiling above the kitchen area adds definition to the otherwise open and wide living area fit for entertaining.
The project also includes full renovation of a powder room, two full bathrooms, a den and three bedrooms to create a modern and balanced interior with the living area and kitchen. New sound blocking windows and a full air conditioning system are among the features that make the once-industrial space in Manhattan’s Flatiron district feel more comfortable, serene, and private.
