State of Being

State of Being is a project for a non-profit organization dedicated to catalyzing a transformation in global society, moving from a culture of domination to one of equality and partnership by imagining new ways of being in community. Their programs support a range of initiatives dedicated to empowering women and girls worldwide.

We supported the organization in its renovation of an industrial building in Brooklyn to serve as its new headquarters. The primary focus was to convey the organization’s mission through the design of the office and create multi-purpose spaces that would allow them to implement many different programs, host functions in-house, and accommodate various other activities. This new office acts as a hub of engagement where the organization can bring together diverse members of the community to work towards a common mission.

The result is an inviting and inspiring space where supporters can see the impact of their contributions and grantees have access to resources to further their missions. Beginning the project with an in-depth discovery phase and working closely with the client, architect of record, and other consultants allowed us to deliver well-informed design solutions that were specifically tailored to the organization’s needs. Additionally, the client was also able to achieve their workforce goal of having over 30% of construction hours performed by women.

The Architect of Record for this project is Ryall Porter Sheridan Architects.
